Time series learning in a many-body Rydberg system with emergent collective amplification

In a lab, atoms near a tipping point predicted future data values more accurately.

A cloud of specially excited atoms can act like a tiny computer. It learns patterns in data and predicts what comes next. Scientists tested this near a special tipping point where atoms react together as a group. Near this tipping point, the cloud got better at predicting future values in a data stream.
