In animals, fat bubbles carried genetic instructions across the brain's protective barrier into brain cells.

Tiny fat bubbles carried genetic instructions past the brain's natural shield and into brain cells. Scientists tested these bubbles, called CA2d LNPs, in mice, monkeys, and rats. The bubbles reached neurons and other brain cells after just a shot into the blood. In rats with a stroke, the treatment shrank brain damage and helped the animals move better afterward.
Shown in mice, monkeys, and stroke-model rats, not yet tested in humans.
