Late-life semaglutide treatment slows ageing and extends lifespan in female mice
In female mice, a diabetes drug slowed aging and made them live longer.
Yufan Feng, Marine Barthez et al.
A diabetes and weight loss drug called semaglutide made old female mice age more slowly and live longer. Mice got the drug for three months, starting at an age similar to a person in their sixties. It matched or beat strict dieting at boosting memory, curiosity, and blood sugar control. The drug seemed to work like calorie restriction, a diet that is known to slow aging, but it also improved some things beyond what dieting alone could do.
The length and starting age of the drug treatment given to older female mice.
Female mice only, no human data yet.
