Multidisciplinary intervention in frail elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases: a multicentre, single-blinded, randomised controlled trial
A five-part hospital program made frail elderly heart patients stronger and less frail after one year.
Ke Chai, Chen Meng et al.
A hospital program helped frail older heart patients get stronger and less frail after one year. The program combined exercise, health teaching, diet advice, gentle massage, and a check of their medicines. In a trial of 333 patients over age 70, those in the program scored better on frailty and physical tests than patients who got usual care. No serious harm from the program showed up during the study.
The size of the trial testing the multidisciplinary frailty program against usual hospital care.
One city, 333 patients, some dropped out before the end.
