Distinct inflammatory marker profiles of adolescents and young adults among the HIV risk, infection, and treatment spectrum
Young people at each HIV stage show a different pattern of inflammation in their blood.
Huan Vinh Dong, Gielenny M. Salem et al.
Blood tests show that young people have different inflammation patterns depending on their stage with HIV. Some patterns show up even before infection, in youth at high risk. Others appear right after diagnosis and slowly fade, but do not fully vanish, even after two years of treatment.
The size and age of the group whose blood was tested for 49 inflammation markers.
262 young people, blood tests only, no proof of harm yet.
