Complex Energy-dependent Behaviour of Quasiperiodic Oscillations Observed in GRS 1915+105

In one black hole's X-ray flicker, two hidden signals hide inside what looked like a single beat.

Vaibhav Sharma, Ranjeev Misra et al.

A black hole system called GRS 1915+105 sends out X-rays that flicker in a repeating beat. Scientists split this beat by energy level and found it changes slightly with energy, but not because it shifts over time. The beat actually seems to be two separate hidden signals mixed together. Each hidden signal behaves differently as energy and timing change.

What it could change A repeating X-ray flicker from a black hole splits into two separate hidden signals.

Shows the flicker pattern is not one signal changing, but two signals overlapping.

One black hole, one observation, lab-style data analysis only.
