ASB2 inhibits lipid accumulation to promote ILC1 homeostatic fitness and anti-tumor immunity in the mouse liver
A protein called ASB2 helps certain liver immune cells survive and fight tumors. These immune cells, called ILC1s, patrol the liver and help stop cancer from spreading there. Mice without ASB2 in these cells had fewer of them, because the cells stored too much fat and died. Blocking fat buildup with a drug kept the cells alive and helped mice live longer when they had liver tumors from colon cancer.
A protein called ASB2 stops liver immune cells from storing extra fat, keeping them alive to fight tumors.
